CursusOS / Platform / Staff, HR and development

The record that hires someone is the record that grants their access.

Recruitment, contracts, visas, leave, appraisal, CPD and pay progression on one staff record.
Permissions come from Workspace Groups, so joining and leaving are single actions.

Recruitment

Vacancies published from the record, applications in the same queue, safer recruitment steps evidenced rather than assumed.

Contracts and visas

Issue, renewal and expiry with automatic re-request, under the school's own retention policy.

Leave

An approved request writes the absence, releases cover and notifies the department. One action, one chain.

Appraisal and CPD

Observation, plan review, assessment outcomes and CPD feeding one cycle that also answers inspection.

One record

The record that hires someone grants their access.

Recruitment, contract, visa, role, timetable, appraisal and permissions are the same person in the same system. A new teacher joining a Workspace Group during onboarding already has the access their job requires, and a leaver loses it on the day they leave rather than the day somebody remembers.

Development

Appraisal that runs on evidence already collected.

Lesson observation, lesson-plan review, assessment outcomes, cover carried and CPD completed all feed one cycle. The same records answer the teaching and assessment performance standard at inspection, so nobody assembles an appraisal file twice.

Full functionality

Every workflow below is specified with its trigger, its actor, the screen it happens on, the step sequence, the permissions and the edge cases.

Ask about any of it

01Recruitment and vacancies
  • Vacancies published to the school website from the record, with applications landing in the same lead queue as admissions enquiries.
  • Shortlisting, interview scheduling and scoring against the person specification.
  • Safer recruitment steps recorded as steps, with the gaps visible rather than assumed.
  • Offer, contract and start date flowing into onboarding without re-keying.
02Onboarding and the single central record
  • Identity, right to work, qualifications, references, background checks and declarations, each with its own state.
  • A single central record view that is generated rather than maintained, so it cannot drift from the underlying documents.
  • Access granted by adding the person to a Workspace Group, at the moment the record says they are cleared.
  • Induction tasks assigned to named owners across HR, IT, facilities and the department.
03Contracts, visas and documents
  • Contract issue, variation and renewal tracked against the person.
  • Visa, medical, Emirates ID and qualification attestation with expiry rules and automatic re-request.
  • Document expiry surfaced before it bites, to HR and to the person, in their language.
  • Everything stored in Drive under the school's own retention policy.
04Leave and absence

Leave is the clearest example of automating the consequence rather than the form.

  • Request, approval chain and entitlement balance on one screen.
  • An approved request writes the staff absence, which releases cover, which builds the cover sheet, which notifies the department.
  • Sickness absence patterns visible to leadership without a separate reporting exercise.
  • Return to work steps recorded where policy requires them.
05Appraisal, observation and CPD
  • Objectives set against school priorities and reviewed on a cycle that runs itself.
  • Lesson observation and lesson-plan review feeding the same file.
  • CPD logged with cost, provider, hours and impact, which is what makes a CPD budget defensible.
  • Threshold and progression evidence assembled from the cycle rather than written from memory.
06Pay scale and progression
  • Scale points, allowances and progression rules held against the role rather than the individual.
  • Progression proposals generated from appraisal outcomes for a human to confirm.
  • Staffing cost modelled against the roll forecast, by phase and by department.
  • Pay data is a restricted clearance class, visible only to named holders and logged on every read.
07Offboarding
  • Leaving date drives access revocation across Workspace, the platform and every scoped portal.
  • Handover tasks, equipment return and final documents tracked to completion.
  • Reference requests answered from the record.
  • Historic records retained under policy, with the person's access ended the same day.
